Four

So as it turned out, we did not stay at the Grand Canyon for the night. When we got there in the morning, we found out that all of the campgrounds were full. So we found a place to park and began our adventure in the Grand Canyon.
We began our descent at 8:00 a.m. The hike down was easy (ish), though slow going because we had to be sure of our footing on the sloping trail. We arrived at Skeleton Point at around 10:30 a.m., which was about halfway down to the Colorado River. It was amazing, actually being in the Canyon. We had some snacks while at the point, and rested there for a while. Then we began the long climb back. The kids were troupers! They had energy enough to complete the climb (with some piggy back rides involved) and then some extra to spare once we were at the top!

This sweet gal and I were buddies all day. We all buddied up to make sure that everyone stayed safe.

The beginning...

There was a little rest stop at the halfway point on the hike to Skeleton Point, there Mikey decided that it was time for a mid-morning snack, so we took a little break.

Then it was back on the trail!

Snack time!

Of course we had to take the traditional (two years in a row makes it tradition right?!?) individual pictures of us all with the Canyon.

This little cutie... only five months old and been to the Grand Canyon twice!

We took an extra break on the way back. It was tough going, especially when some of us were carrying a kid on our backs. :) But we made it! It was a good workout. ;) We were out of there by 1:30 p.m. so our total time in the Canyon was about 5 1/2 hours. We were all left with the souvenir of a sunburn. Next up... red faced pictures! :)

After we finished our hike, we hit the road again and are now camping at Black Canyon City. The kids took advantage of the swimming pool and we had hamburgers for supper cooked over an open campfire. The camp managers here told us that he had to purchase king snakes to help him take care of his rattle snake problems. Needless to say we have been watching our steps a little bit more carefully!
Anyway, Goodnight from Arizona!
