The Solar Eclipse and a New Puppy

I was totally bummed this morning. I had been looking forward to watching the solar eclipse for a couple of days, but alas, it was rainy and cloudy.
Little did I know that we were going to be able to not only get a glimpse of the eclipse through the clouds, but also take a good picture of it, because those same clouds I was bummed about was shading the sun just enough to get a good view and a good picture.

We did not get to totality here in Manitoba, I think it was somewhere around 70%, but it was cool anyway.
I am so thankful that God gives us these beautiful acts of nature to enjoy.

In other news... we got a new puppy!
Our good old farm dog is getting, well... old, so we decided to get a pup so Teddy could help her learn how to be good before she passes on.
So far Teddy has been quite grumpy about the new kid on the block, but hopefully she will warm up to her soon.
No name yet! We are looking for something unique, so if you have any suggestions, comment away. :)

There is no shortage of lovin'.

Currently the combines are rumbling, and the guys are out checking on a field to see if we can begin harvest. I am just waiting for the call, and then... to the grain cart! :)
Let harvest begin!

Perfect Day

Can I be super sappy and say, "It's a perfect ending to a perfect day."?
We had the best of everything today.
Perfect weather.
Some "Me and Jesus" time by the pool.
A great online sermon from Hope City.
Pizza.
Ice cream.
And finally, the Super Moon.

Right now, I'm sitting outside at the patio table, staring at the moon every few moments. The kiddos are off with their mama, running around the campground with glow sticks. Some of us are relaxing.

I feel... happy. I feel like I can trust bigger. The creator is looking out for me.

God does this for us y'all. He didn't have to make the world beautiful. He didn't have to create these natural phenomenons, but He did. For us to enjoy.
This is the closest the moon has been in 68 years, so go out and enjoy the view!

Flowers and things

I love this time of the year, the beginning of summer. The house has been so quiet today because everyone is outside. Playing, working, just enjoying the warm weather.
I took a look around the yard and noticed that almost every single flower that Ker planted is now blooming.
So I ran around and took pictures here and there for today's blog post.

Though the storm

It is past midnight and I am sitting on the window seat watching the lightening storm. I am the only one awake, so the house is quite enough for me to hear the raindrops fall gently on the window.

I could watch lightening for hours, it is a visual reminder to me of how powerful and awesome God is.

The flashes are continuously brightening the sky, the rain falling harder now and the wind picking up speed as the storm draws closer.

Being a farmer's daughter, storms carry a different meaning. Unlike some who can simply sit and enjoy watching a it, there are mixed feelings that accompany each one. A single storm could destroy our whole crop, and I can't shake the helpless feeling. Our livelihood is at the mercy of God, and beyond praying for protection for the crops, all we can do is rely on Him to do the thing that is best for our family.
Yet I still feel awe, amazement, and wonder, not being able to help enjoying each clap of thunder.

Others now have been awakened by the fury of the storm. Together we watch and wait. We wonder and we pray.
(And we check the radar :)

He holds tomorrow

If He can hold the world, He can hold this moment
Not a field nor flower escapes His notice
Even the sparrow knows, He holds tomorrow

Today: Roses and Tornados

The roses have been begging me to take pictures of them since they began to bloom. But, my camera has still not been fixed, so I have refrained myself. Today I could not stand it anymore, I grabbed my phone and took some pictures, in spite of the quality.
I love roses, they have such a strong fragrance! I will sometimes pick one and sniff it until it doesn't smell anymore. (I may or may not be addicted ;)
But hey, my middle name is Rose... so I am allowed right!?

These words come from a song called "You Alone" by The Sisters.
They have been on my heart today.

Early this evening we had a little bit of excitement when we spotted a tornado from our yard! It was about twenty minutes away from us, so there was no danger. You can barely see it in this picture, but it was a lot more clear in real life. I was sad that there were crops that were being damaged... but I was excited to be able to see a tornado... I have always wanted to see one!
And that was a few random snippets from my day.
Hope you all had a good one!

Apple Blossoms

Everything that You have made is beautiful

Oh my God I can't believe my eyes

But in all of this to think that you would think of me
Makes my heart come alive

Your love is like a mighty fire deep inside my bones

I feel like I could climb a thousand mountains all at once

And I never have to wonder if somebody cares for me

Cause I love the Maker
And the Maker loves me

Wonderful Catastrophe

The Grand Canyon.
As I stepped close to the railing to see it for the first time, the combination of the extreme depth and vastness of the canyon literally took my breath away. No words can describe the beauty of it, no photographer could capture the wonder.
It is something to be experienced. Something that created a sense of awe and amazement, and as I said before - helped me understand the majesty of God just a little bit better.
Millions of people from all over the world come to see the canyon every year. Though many see it as a product of nature over millions of years, I see it as a result of a catastrophe designed by God to rid the world of evil, the evidence of His justice and power.

The picture of the Grand Canyon can be compared to the catastrophes that we face in our lives. When we are surrounded by turbulent waters, and cannot see the end in sight, we can know that God has a plan. When hardship carves away at our soul, and everything that we are is being changed, we can rest in knowing that God is creating beauty out of our struggle.
He is forming something in our lives that people will come to see and be in awe of.
The horror of the flood waters will create a wonder.

Like a Waterfall

Your love is like a waterfall, waterfall
Running wild and free

You hear my heart when I call, when I call
Deep calls to deep

Your love is like a waterfall, waterfall
Raining down on me
~ Chris Tomlin ~
